O worm Conficker surgiu em Outubro de 2008 e desde então já conseguiu infectar milhões de computadores em todo o mundo. O worm tira partido de uma vulnerabilidade do Windows (afecta practicamente todas as versões) que entretanto já foi corrigida pela Microsoft (também em Outubro do ano passado).
Mas como a maior parte das pessoas não actualiza ou demora a actualizar os sistemas operativos, o worm continua a propagar-se.
Esta propagação é tão acentuadaque a Microsoft já ofereceu uma recompesa de 250 mil dólares (193,6 mil euos) para quem consiga fornecer dados que levem à identificação e captura do seu criador.
A "caça ao homem" está aberta a qualquer cidadão do mundo, que se tiver alguma informação basta fazê-la chegar às autoridades locais.
A Microsoft juntou-se também a empresas como a Symantec, buying medicine online F-Secure, AOL, Verisign, o ICANN, entre outros, para tornar mais eficaz o futuro combate a este tipo de ameaças.
Só nos últimos cinco dias a Symantec detectou uma média de 1,7 milhões de endereços IP infectados pela variante W32.Downadup.A do worm, que também se difunde através de dispositivos externos de memória e 453.436 endereços IP infectados pela variante W32.Downadup.A.
Cálculos da Arbor Networks indicam que já podem ter sido contaminados 12 milhões de máquinas, que poderão ser usadas pela lançar ataques denial of service ou colaborar num novo ataque.

Hi there, I have recorded some footage with my camera which records onto 8cm DVD-RW. When I finalise the disk, it plays back fine on any DVD player at an aspect ratio of 16:9 even though the video resolution is 720×576. I took the .VOB file from the disk and converted it to MPEG2 using “MPEG Video Wizard” and then checked the file parameters with “MediaInfo” and it all matches up with the original .VOB with the 16:9 aspect ratio as well.
The MPEG2 doesn’t playback in 16:9 on any media player but I thought nothing of it because the .VOB didn’t either, only when the original DVD was played it did. So I burned it to a DVD with Nero 7 Premium only to discover to my dismay that it plays back 4:3, not 16:9 as it should. I then tried again but this time forcing it to 16:9 aspect ratio, all this did was add black boarders to the sides of my video.
I’m guessing this is something to do with the file itself, either there must be a special way to extract a .VOB properly from a DVD other than what I’m doing which is simply dragging and dropping. Or something went wrong when I converted it into MPEG2.
